Insurance is Essential in a Busy Nightclub
People go to nightclubs to dance, drink and meet people, but if you spend a lot of time on the nightclub floor, then you know that all that fun can quickly turn a little too wild.
As a club owner, you’ve probably already taken steps to prevent the most common nightclub problems, including hiring bouncers to deal with out of control patrons, checking ID’s to stop underage drinking, limiting the number of drinks people can have, and ensuring certain areas of the club are well-lit so people don’t slip and fall. Those are all great steps to take, but another big thing to consider is getting the right insurance for your nightclub.
In a lot of cases, it’s not just a safety measure. It’s also the law. Most states require at least a minimum amount of insurance coverage for the simple fact that you serve liquor in your establishment. When people are drinking alcohol, their judgment may become impaired and they may trip, fall, get in fights or otherwise do damage to your property. They may also steal from other customers – something for which you and your club could be held liable.
Your club patrons could also pose a threat to your employees by spilling drinks that make a floor slippery or by overtly threatening your workers. Certain types of insurance will also cover assault and battery claims – something that may be well worth the expense in a rowdy club.
Your workers could also be at risk of everyday accidents that can occur from restaurant stoves or ovens, broken glass or even fires. As such, a comprehensive nightclub insurance policy should include coverage for worker’s compensation, property damage, theft, assault and battery and more.
A quality insurance broker will have considered all of these potential threats and will be willing and able to work through each of them with you to find the right insurance coverage solutions. Plenty of insurance companies and brokers will say they understand the insurance needs of nightclub owners, but actually lack the experience of having worked with nightclub owners in the past.
When you’re on the lookout for insurance coverage, ask the brokers about their level of experience in working with establishments such as yours. If they don’t have any experience working in nightclubs, move onto someone who does. It could save you loads of time and expense in the long run. Contact RSI Insurance for more information.
