Dentures Versus Dental Implants in Downtown Chicago
If you have missing teeth for any reason, you may want to use artificial teeth to hide the fact. However, you may think your only option is to use dentures, which can be difficult to use. However, another option is readily available in Downtown Chicago, which is called dental implants. Both versions will work, but dental implants may be a better option.
Statistics
The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons says that almost 70 percent of adults between the ages of 35 to 44 have one or more teeth missing due to dental fractures, gum disease, tooth decay or accidents. This number would be higher if the Association looked at children with adult teeth that have a tooth missing due to the above-mentioned problems. Therefore, it is important that these adults and children have ways to have a natural smile with the use of either dental implants, dentures or other forms to tooth replacement in Downtown Chicago.
Dentures
Dentures come in both uppers and lowers, along with partial dentures. If you have lost all or most of your teeth, you may have the rest of your teeth removed and have dentures made for your mouth. However, if you only have one or two teeth missing, you may have a partial denture to replace just those missing teeth, as long as the surrounding teeth are healthy enough to be used with a partial denture.
Dentures sit on top of the gums and are either held in place by your mouth or with the use of denture adhesive. Cleaning them requires taking them out of your mouth, rinsing them off, brushing them or using effervescent cleaning tablets.
Dental Implants
Dental implants can be used instead of dentures. When you have one or more missing teeth, metal is implanted into the gum and jawbone. Once that has healed, a manufactured tooth can be placed onto the implant. This is a permanent option to tooth loss, and there is no “getting used” to the implant as you would with dentures. Because the manufactured tooth is screwed onto an implant down in the jawbone, no adhesive is necessary. You also clean them as you would normal teeth by brushing and flossing.
Similarities and Differences
While both options are available in Downtown Chicago, dental implants are considered a better choice because there is less pain involved while getting used to the new feature.
