Tips For Caring For A Non Stick Cast Iron Skillet
There are many people who avoid cooking with cast iron due to concerns about property seasoning or curing the pan. They may also have misconceptions around the ease of cooking with cast iron and maintaining the skillet for optional cooking.
The old style, traditional types of cast iron skillets do require a significant amount of work to maintain. Today, thanks to the introduction of nickel plated non stick cast iron skillet options, these issues are a thing of the past.
What is Nickel Plating?
Nickel plating is used to protect metal in many different industries. Electroless types of plating are approved by the FDA and are used in medical equipment as well as cookware. These coatings are tested to ensure they exceed all guidelines for safety, and with a seamless finish, they reduce the risk of bacteria or rust on the cooking surface.
The result is a smooth, non-stick finish that is both practical as well as beautiful. With basic care, a quality non stick cast iron skillet will last for generations.
Caring for the Skillet
The best way to care for a non stick cast iron skillet is to wash the skillet or cookware by hand. As it is non stick, clean up is a breeze. Simply wash with soapy water and rinse, then dry completely.
Drying is not required to prevent rust. However, it stops water deposits from discoloring the surface. While a nickel plated cast iron skillet can go in the dishwasher, there is a greater risk of surface discoloration over time.
At Grizzley Cast Iron Cookware, we offer a non stick cast iron skillet in two convenient sizes.
